As we are seeking to serve the Lord, we often have to make hard decisions about what we feel is right for us at this stage in life.
After coming home from Borroloola, we needed a few repairs on the car and van. These would amount to about $10,000.
Another issue is that after having over 20 years as a missionary, we have almost no super and no savings.
Our trips and expenses are covered by ourselves, so they take a lot of money to fund, and to time to save up for the next trip
We have been looking at what we will do with paying our house when retirement arrives. While we do not have a huge mortgage, we still will struggle when we stop working.
With this in mind, we felt, after much prayer and soul searching that Dennis would work part time preaching for 12 months.
He is working part time with Dungog/Clarence Town again for 12 months. He is also working part time for GRN. Because he is preaching, he will not be on the books for GRN.
Glenys will still be working full time for GRN. This will not change. She will still be doing the script work and the translation as before.
This has been a hard decision, but we feel the right one.
We will be able to increase the house payments for 12 months, to greatly reduce the principal. This will reduce the mortgage for the future.
We will be able to have some funds to repair the van, etc.
We will not be traveling as we did last year, but some trips will be made by both of us during the year.
Dennis will be going to a Recorders Training Course later in the year, and Glenys may travel to some communities to test the recordings.
We do ask for your understanding on this, and would value your continued support during this time.
