Dennis is running away!

Recordist Training

Dennis will be going to GRN for more training. The more training and practice  he gets, the less mistakes are made on the field. This means a better product is made in a shorter time.

He will take the van to the office and live in it for the next 3 months. This means he will commute back to Newcastle for the week ends.

Please keep him in your prayers as he seeks to learn more.  Also for the men who will be teaching. It is an important job, so it must be done well.

Glenys would also value your prayers as she runs the family back in Newcastle.

Home Alone!

Simon Johnson will be one of the men teaching Dennis some recording techniques. He produced this video sharing about the work in Western Australia

This is exciting to see what is happening in remote parts of Australia.

Cheryl

Cheryl Kidd
We have known Cheryl for many years. She was saved early on in our time at Borroloola. Her walk with the Lord has been up and down over the years. God is changing her and she continues to grow and trust God as she matures in him.

A few years ago she came down to Newcastle with us and we spent several months teaching her the scriptures and helping her with her growth. She went back to Borroloola, and has been sharing the gospel with others

Cheryl has been unwell and was sent to Darwin hospital for treatment. When patients need a repeat visit, they stay in a hostel near the hospital until they are given the all clear.  People from all over the Territory stay in the hostels

This is where Cheryl has been the last few days.  And this is where the story gets exciting!

While Cheryl has been staying in the hostel, she has been sharing the 5fish app with other patients. Several times a day, she would ring  us and ask something about the 5fish  app. A number of ladies from Elcho Island were shown the fish. They were excited, brought others to Cheryl to help with the 5fish app, who then brought others.

Finally, people were struggling with credit, so we sent them to the local shopping centre and McDonalds to use the free wifi there.

Cheryl is so excited about sharing the Bible stories with others. It is a great way to evangelize with other people.

The people Cheryl shared the 5fish app with were saying that they were going to share it with family back home. Could people come and record more stories for their families to listen to.

Please pray for the people who are listening to the 5fish app. Pray that God's word will speak to them and those around them.

Also thank God for Cheryl and her willingness to share God's story to others around her, people she never met before.

Hard Work Ahead!

One of the problems we have with the work we do is how to combine schooling and missionary work together.

As some of you will know, we were fortunate enough to get Nelita into an IM class at Maitland last year. This is a class for children with learning difficulties. It was so good for her, and she progressed so much, even though we had to pull her out for a
couple of months to go to Victoria.

This year we are able to put her, and maybe Trevon into an Anglican school that has a special school that will continue what Nellie has been doing last year. It is called D.A.L.E.

We home schooled our kids through their schooling years, but feel that with the special needs our foster kids have, are better educated in these classes.

This limits us as to how long we can be away.

One solution we have come up with is to have people come down and stay with us. This, we feel does a few things.
One is that we are able to work with people with fewer interruptions from issues arising from living in a community.

Another is that it gives people from remote areas to be able to see Christians from other parts of the country.
Christians around us are able to meet and share with Indigenous Christians; something that does not happen very often.

Our kids are still schooling with less interruptions.

All that being said, we are looking at a family coming down in the next few weeks.

Where do families stay when we live in such a tiny house?  Glad you asked. We are looking at rebuilding our shed. It was converted into an office, but we are pulling it down and building it a bit larger. The existing shed is not to code and dangerous.

The next few weeks are spent empyting the office, getting council approval and seeking to build the new one.

Please pray that all will go well. We have limited funds to do this and limited man power. It is a mammoth task and we would like to have it complete as soon and possible and as smoothly as possible.

We will keep you posted on the progress.

2017 has arrived!

We trust you all had a great Christmas and New Year.
Our Christmas was spent by a river near Dungog. We took the caravan out the night before. Dennis preached at Clarence Town on Christmas Eve, so we kept on going to Bandon Grove with the van.

The kids came out on Christmas day. The day was spent swimming and eating.
Daniel bought Nellie and Xander snorkeling gear. That made for a quiet Christmas as they spent their heads under water for most of the day.

The New Year was spent watching the fire works by the Hunter River at Maitland, then off to bed before the clock struck 12!

Now it is back to work  and getting ready for all the new year has for us.

Christmas Card
Just want to wish everyone a happy Christmas. Thank you for all your prayers and support over the last year.
It was great to meet up with so many people when we were down in Victoria this year. We hope to meet up with the rest of you in the near future.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

What a disaster!

Oh no, we made a big

mistake!

We put the wrong account number

on the shrapnel boxes!

While we were down in Victoria,
we handed out some shrapnel boxes

These boxes were to be used if people
wanted to put their loose change (shrapnel) in them.

We use this shrapnel to make bible stories
Turning Shrapnel into Stories!

The BSB number was correct
The Account number is wrong!!!

DUH

If you use the wrong number, the bank wont recognize it, so fortunately it does not go into someone else's account.

The correct numbers are:

BSB  032 388     ACC 222 860

I feel better now!

If you would like some boxes, please let us know and we will get some to you

Nellie will kill me when she sees this!  (lol)

Our Trip in Victoria

Tranting around Victoria

After 2 months on the road and 10, 327 kms, we are finally home. We arrived home on Monday 24th October.  It was great to be back in the warm weather, sorry Vic, but it was cold  and wet!

We drove through Dubbo, Forbes and Hay to get to Mildura. It started raining in Dubbo, and we followed the rain for the next 7 weeks!
This was an omen for the rest of the trip!

Never mind! These come with rain .
It was our aim to visit as many country Victoria churches as possible. So many people have faithfully prayed and supported us over the 20 years, and we wanted to catch up with as many as possible during our time there.
Old Methodist Church-Rainbow. (Glenys' family church back in the dark ages!)

Often we struggled with time. People we would dearly loved to spend more time with, we only saw for a couple of hours, or maybe just a few minutes at church or meeting.  This was disappointing, but we will be in glory forever, so we can really catch up then.

Going to different churches is so encouraging. So many people have ministries in  different areas. While we are serving in remote parts of Australia, so many people are serving God and evangelizing in their own communities. We did enjoy hearing what people were doing, and how they and their churches were still working on the Great Commission.

It was great to share about the 5fish app. As GRN has not been much in the public eye for a number of years, people had not heard what GRN was doing.

More country areas are having people come in from different countries now, so it is great that GRN can be used to help share the gospel with them. Please pray that God will soften the hearts of people to listen to God's message, that people will be willing to share the story with them and that the 5 fish app may be a useful tool for people to use.

This trip was mainly in Presbyterian churches. While we did get the opportunity to share in some other denominations, there are so many churches out there that could be using the 5 fish app but don't know about it.

Some churches have a ministry in some of the Universities. We were able to show them the 5fish app. This was another tool they could use for the students who have come to Australia to study.

Many farming communities also have workers coming in to work on the farms. This is another area of ministry that people are working in that was not there a few years ago.

Country people have lived up to the reputation of putting on a 'good spread'. Our kids had to go to the meetings with us, and it was often boring as they heard the same story over and over. Trevon would ask if we were having 'a feed' at the meeting. If the answer was 'yes', then he would patiently put up with the meeting as a reward was offered after. He was always happiest if there was something with chocolate flavour on the table. Chocolate redeems all elements of boring meetings!

We are also very grateful to the many people who went out of their way to engage with the kids, make them feel comfortable and important in the whole scheme of our work.

They loved it so much when people took an interest and spent time with them, or included them in their lives. We don't have photos of every one who helped make their time on the road enjoyable but we still appreciate those who put time into the lives of the kids while we were away.

Every time the kids had an enjoyable time at a church, or with a group of people, Trevon would ask if we could move to that area/church and stay there because he had such a great time.

We would love to hear from you and what you are up to. Shoot us an email occasionally so we can share in your lives too.
